  • Indonesian education is always become the interesting phenomenon and the same time also worry about because its quality is so poor and leaves behind the other countries. Teaching as the operational activity of education is done by the teacher, who has the obligation to teach and to educate. In educational environment, teacher’s role is very important. It means that the teacher should do their job well. The competent teacher will have an opportunity to be professional educator. In order to develop Indonesia resources, especially in regional autonomy area, professional teacher’s role has contribution to realize it. Therefore, teacher should has high work competence. Transformational leadership style of headmaster is very required to improve work competence of a teacher. Based on the background, the writer interests to study about “the correlation between transformational leadership with teacher’s work competence”. It is a quantitative research. Research subjects are 40 teachers of SDN Wadungasri I and II. Data collecting technique is scale. Validity test uses product moment that re-correlated to part whole correlation. Reliability test use alpha analysis. Data analysis uses product moment correlation of SPSS computer software (Statistic Program for Social Sciences). From the research results, it can be concluded that there is very significant correlation between transformational leadership style and work competence of teacher of SDN Wadungasri I and II. Hypothesis is accepted by r-value is 0.540 with the significance rate (p) is 0.000 and r2 = 0.2916. It shows the effective contribution of transformational leadership style to teachers’ work competence as much as 29.16%, while its remains 70.84% are influenced by other factors that do not studied.
