- Reading aloud technique is a technique in which the teacher reads the text aloud with a proper pronunciation and proper oral production of communicative element for making sense of reading while the students follow the text silently. The study was to know and survey the technique of teaching reading comprehension by using reading aloud technique to the first year students at SLTPN 1 Satui, Tanah Bumbu. This study belonged to quasi-experimental research with randomized control group. The population of this study consisted of four classes. There were, 1-A up to 1-D. Each class consisted of about 30 students. The sample were 1-C and 1-D, one was a control group and the other was an experimental group. The researcher used two kinds of instrument to collect the data, they were; test and documentation. Test is a set of question or exercise that is used to measure skill, knowledge, intelligence or aptitude of an individual or a group. Documentation was needed to know the books used for English subject given to a control group and an experimental group. The research result showed that by using t-test at level 5% and degree of freedom 30 it was found that tt was 0.05. Meanwhile it was also found that to was 2.04, which was higher than the tt (0.05). This means that there was significant effect of reading aloud technique on reading comprehension achievement of the students at SLTP Negeri 1 Satui.
