- Prisoners have a narrow scope to deal with others so that the fulfillment level of need is also limited, high and low affiliation motive on prisoners associated with the sense of alienation (alienation) of these prisoners. This research is a quantitative correlation. The sample of this research is Lumajang Penitentiary inmates. The total sample used by as many as 50 prisoners. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the characteristics of inmates who had been sentenced and is serving a prison sentence between 30-10 months. Instrument used to retrieve data is by using a scale that is affiliated motive scale numbered 39 items and alienation scale 42 items. Data analysis technique using product moment correlation test, with the help of SPSS version 11.5 for Windows. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between motive affiliated with alienation (r = 0.436, p = 0.002), where the higher the affiliation motive, the higher sense of isolation.
