- Life certainly cannot be separated from communication and culture because these two things apparently have a reciprocal relationship to each other. Culture will be can be identified when someone communicates as well as communication will affect culture. Culture and communication are related and important to understand. This research mainly aims to determine the ritual communication process carried out by Tau Deya Seloka (elder woman) in the Barodak tradition in Baru Village, Baru Village, North Moyo District, Sumbawa Besar Regency. This research using the concept of ritual communication. The approach used is qualitative with descriptive research type and naturalistic research base. Data obtained using observation techniques, interviews and documentation. While the selection of research subjects using a total sampling technique, which are 13 subjects (tau deya seloka (elder women)) who were involved and followed the Barodak tradition, and 3 informants. While the used data analysis technique is the model of Miles and Huberman. Based on research conducted, it shows that the ritual communication process carried out by Tau Deya Seloka (elder woman) in the Barodak Tradition in Baru Hamlet is very important before the bride and groom hold a marriage contract. The ritual communication process includes: semelik dila malam as a guiding light for the bride and groom to be brighter, jit awilompo as a sign to unite the bride and groom, reciting prayers and barodak is to emit aura and light, as well as cleaning the bride and groom, sawit bete’ loto kuning is in hope to banish any reinforcements that could have happened, rapancar as a sign that he or she was a bride or a groom, sengkenang awilompo as a sign of the union of the couple, sekeliung and peniupan dila malam is to give calm and strengthen the intention of the bride and groom. Every process of ritual communication done in this tradition has the intention to also support and relate to one another.
