- Breast cancer is a malignant abnormal growth of a tissue in the breast that is in the ductal epithelium or lobes. Some steps taken to cure breast cancer are surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, breast conservancy therapy (BCT). The method of treatment has side effects that are not expected by the patient. Thus, research and development of cancer cell drugs from safe natural materials is one of them with Dayak onions (Eleutherine palmifolia L.). This study was conductate to determine the IC50 value of the ethanol fraction of Dayak onion tubers (Eleutherine palmifolia L.) on MCF-7 breast cancer cells and Vero cells. Furthermore doxorubicin positive dick is used as a comparison. This study is also to determine the content of secondary metabolites that can used as anticancer using TLC methods. Phytochemical screening results of compounds it contained in the ethanol fraction of Dayak onion tubers (Eleutherine palmifolia L.) are flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, polyphenols, anthraquinones. IC50 value of Dayak tuber (Eleutherine palmifolia L.) ethanol fraction against MCF-7 cells and Vero cells was 1326,303 μg / ml and 22350,933 μg / ml. The Selectivity Index (SI) value of 16.85. This means that the ethanol fraction of Dayak onion tubers (Eleutherine palmifolia L.) is not toxic to MCF- 7 cells and Vero cells.
