This research is an analytical research that aims to determine the level of student anxiety in learning mathematics. The place and time of the study was SMP Negeri 12 Malang, on 2-30 January 2020. The population of this research is class VIII which consists of 4 classes and representatives of 10 students are taken from each class based on the top 5 ranks and the 5 lowest ranks. The technique of collecting analysis data is by distributing questionnaires to all 40 selected students. Researchers spread the analysis questionnaire to get the results / data on the level of anxiety of students of SMP Negeri 12 Malang. The researcher also conducted interviews with 5 student representatives, conducted to strengthen the research data. The results of this study are students of class VIII SMP Negeri 12 Malang classified in the category of mild anxiety levels in learning mathematics, which is shown in the overall percentage with an average value of 1.24. Based on the instruments made by researchers <1.50, it shows that the level of student anxiety in learning mathematics is mild anxiety. Anxiety is one of the emotional factors of students. Anxiety is one of the reasons why proper interpersonal relationships are very important in understanding mathematics. This is because that anxiety itself can increase, is subjective, and makes understanding difficult. Students who are more anxious will try harder, but their understanding will get worse, making them more anxious. Therefore students learn partially. This will shape students' interpersonal experiences. Students who feel less anxious in learning mathematics because the student knows that he is able to overcome problems in learning mathematics, so he will be able to use his anxiety in solving these problems. Anxiety can be a useful stimulus. Adaptation to anxiety is part of how to overcome anxiety in problem solving. This paper will describe some things that might overcome anxiety in learning mathematics.
