- Background: Tamanu oil contains calophyllolide which is known to have antibacterial benefits, especially to treat acne caused by Propionibacterium acne. Emulgel preparations was chosen because it is suitable for acne. Objective: To determine the effect of CMC-Na on physical characteristics, chemistry and stability of Tamanu emulgel preparations Oil Methods: The study was conducted with an experimental method to compare the effect of variations in CMC-Na on the characteristics of Physico chemical and stability test on the preparation of Tamanu oil emulgel. Results and conclusions: the results of research on emulgel preparations with varying levels of CMC-Na did not have a significant effect on physical characteristics tests of organoleptic, dispersal power, homogeneity, and type of emulsion . However, the emulgel preparation has a significant effect on the viscosity and pH tests after the stability test using the freeze thaw cycling method and the real time method.
