  • A student who is a driving force for nation-building is just an ordinary person who also covered the problem particularly faced by the college level. In an attempt to solve the problem, a student requires a learning process in which there is a lot of experience and knowledge of problem-solving techniques is good. This can be obtained by following student organizations in which students will learn to be responsible for duties charged to him, learn to comprehend, understand and accept opinions of others, learn to express their opinions and try to be more transparent in solving organizational problems together so as to make the student increasingly trained in dealing with problems. This research using causal comparative study comparing two groups of individuals who generally have in common and among the two groups of individuals such that one has a feature while others do not have the trait. The population in this study are students of economic faculty of UMM with research samples totaling 100 students, consisting of 50 students and 50 student activists of non-activist, who was taken by incidental sampling technique. Data collection instruments used were questionnaires and scales, where the questionnaire is used to define categories of research subjects, whether they were student activists clustered or non-activist students. Medium scale used to determine how much a person problem solving skills. The method of data analysis used the technique t-test or t-test. The results found t = 3.546 with p = 0.001. This means that there are differences in the ability of solving a very significant problem among student activists with a non-activist students. Student activists have problem-solving ability is higher (x = 150.54) compared with non-activist students (x = 139.96).
