- The ability to creative thinking and mathematical problem solving are abilities that students must have. In this regard, a teacher must know the ability to creative thinking and problem solving students so they can plan learning in accordance with the abilities of students. This study aims to analyze the ability to creative thinking and junior high school mathematics problem solving in problem-based learning settings with technique what's another way. This type of research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII A Marsudisiwi Catholic Middle School in the odd semester of the 2018/2019 school year, totaling 25 students. Data collection methods used in this study were tests and interviews. The results showed that: 1) The ability of students to creative think as a whole based on research showed different results. Class VIII A students are still less able in the flexibility aspect, where students have not been able to provide answers in more than one way / other ideas from the same problem with the reason students only understand one solution, afraid of being wrong if using another solution and fearing time is not enough; 2) The overall problem solving ability of students based on research shows different results. Class VIII A students are still less able in the aspect of looking back, where most students do not check again because students feel confident and correct with the answers available and some students feel the time is not enough.
