Daftar Isi:
- Banaa trees (Musa paradisiaca L) are commonly found in tropical regions and are even said to grow wild on moist soil also on the river side. Flavonoids contained in the sap of banana tree, can also affect the masculinization of betta fish (Betta splendens R), something similiar to the use of synthetic ingredients namely the hormone 17a-metiltestosteron has succeeded in masculinizing nile tilapia fish up to 100%. However the use of hormone 17a-metiltestosteron is reported to have negative impact that is carcinogenic effect (causing cancer), if applied will couse environmental pollution, consequently affecting food safety and environmental sustainability. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect banana tree sap (Musa paradisiaca L) on the masculinization of betta fish (Betta splendens R) as learning biology and how theoritical studies can be utilized by high school students in grade XI. The type of this research is True Experimant with purposive sampling technique, wich is the determination of sample using all betta fish puppies wich are juvenile.. Design uses RAL with banana tree sap concentrations (0%, 10%, 20% and 30%) and than processed by One Way ANOVA test (SPSS). The results showed the treatment with a concentration of 30% produced the highest male fish 68.3%. Flavonoids inhibit the enzyme aromatase inhibitor resulting in the formation of the hormone estrogen is also inhibited so that the hormone testosterone dominates the reproductive mechanism.
