  • Most people affected by diabetes tend to do physical activity a while and do not work after being diagnosed with diabetes. The surge in the incidence of type 2 diabetes is strongly associated with obesity. Both men and women who are obese will increase the risk of complications. Physical activity or exercise is another first-line therapy for the treatment of adults with diabetes mellitus type 2, so that it can control your weight and blood sugar levels due to regular physical activity can facilitate the metabolism in the body. To determine the relationship of body mass index with physical activity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Kendal Kerep Health Center Malang. This study was an analytic-observational research with cross sectional approach. The sample size was 48 respondents in the Polehan in Kendal Kerep Health Center by using simple random sampling technique. Bivariate analysis by using the Spearman Rank correlation test. This study shows that the significance value (p = 0.260) and the correlation coefficient (r = -0.166) which means there is no relationship between body mass index with physical activity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Kendal Kerep Health Center, Malang. The majority of respondents are obese and do physical activity of moderate intensity for most of the respondents worked as a housewife who daily physical activity of moderate intensity at home.
