- Public awareness, especially farmers in the use of organic fertilizers, is currently based on the negative impact of the use of chemical fertilizers, but this awareness has not been supported by knowledge of the proper use, methods of manufacture, and the best concentration and variations in the types of bioactivators used. Making organic fertilizer requires a long time if done in a traditional way, therefore by adding an effective Microorganism-4 (EM-4) bioactivator to accelerate the composting process by decomposing organic material. The addition of EM-4 in addition to accelerating the fermentation of organic materials into fertilizer can also affect the content of chemical elements in the organic material. The purpose of this study was to determine the EM-4 components that affect the chemical quality of organic fertilizers. The type of research method used in this research is Systematic Review The data analysis technique used in this Systematic Review research is Data Extraction. The approach used is the literature approach. The object of review is a scientific article about the use of EM-4 in the manufacture of organic fertilizer. Selected articles are articles sourced from Google Scholar. The articles analyzed are articles in Indonesian and English ones. The articles analyzed are articles with output year 2017, 2018, 2019. The articles analyzed are articles not exceeding 10 articles. The influence of EM-4 on the chemical quality of organic fertilizers varies greatly on one side can increase the content of certain chemical elements and on the other hand can reduce the content of certain chemical elements as well, depending on many concentrations used in making organic fertilizer, many volumes used, and mixtures other than EM-4 is added in the manufacture of fertilizer.
