  • Dragon Fruit (in English: Pitaya) is the fruit of several types of cacti from the general Hylocereus and Selenicereus. Dragon fruit is very adaptive to be cultivated in various regions with altitudes at 0-1200 m above sea level. The most important thing in cultivating dragon fruit is that the plants get enough sunlight. This plant will flourish if the planting media is not muddy, there are abundant nutrients, sandy, sufficiently irradiating the sun and with a state of temperature between 38-40 ° C. In this research, Vertical Axis Wind Turbine was designed to save funding on dragon fruit producers. Wind turbines are placed in the dragon fruit plantation area itself to flow electricity at night. Wind turbines convert wind speeds of 3.6 m / s to be converted into electrical energy. From the speed and data available in the field, the wind turbine design is 122 Watt. In this design using the Pahl Beitz method which consists of 4 stages, the design and explanation of tasks, the design of product concepts, design of product shapes, and design of product details. In this design using a Lenz type wind turbine that uses 3 blades. From the results obtained, the sweep diameter of the wind turbine itself is 2.57 m2. The total blade weight obtained was 5.1 kg. This turbine gets an achievement coefficient of 0.35 with a tip speed ratio obtained at 2.2. The resulting generator output is 145.12 watts.
