  • Insect play a role important role as a herbivore, carnivore and detritivor which is very influential in agriculture. However, the lack of information of farmers about beneficial and harmful insects results in a decrease in citrus production, so insect diversity studies need to be carried out in order to become knowledge for citrus farmers. The purpose of this study was to; 1) analyze the order, family and number of beneficial and harmful insects; 2) knowing the diversity of insects; 3) analyzing INP insects; 4) and describe the results of research on identification of insect diversity in the inorganic citrus plantations (Citrus Sp.,) as a source of learning biology. This type of research quantitative descriptive with an exploratory approach. Insect sample were found in 20% of orange tree from a total of 120 trees, with Purposive sampling technique. Sampling using absolut and relative methodes. Data collection in analzed using the Shannon Wiener formula, and the result of identification of beneficial and harmful insect using Borror and Siwi. The results of this study found 20 insect families from 9 orders. Found 11 families of beneficial insects and 9 families of harmful insects. The highest importance index the Pseudococcidae family of the Homoptera order and the Cecidomyiidae Family of the Diptera order, both types of insects are included in insect pests. The research of identification of insect diversity in citrus plantations (Citrus Sp.) in Batu can be used as a biology learning source.
