- Orchid plants are still associated with other potential ornamental plants as medicinal plants or herbal plants have not been studied more deeply. Orchid plants have bioactive compounds including flavonoids. Notice the potential for utilization and the high content of flavonoid compounds from orchids, it is necessary to develop research that leads to finding effective and efficient methods for supplying flavonoid compounds. Flavonoid production can be maximized by increasing the carbon source, one of which is sucrose. Merrilon and Ramawat (1999) in Rubiati (2017) state that sucrose is used as an energy source, a carbon source, and to regulate signals that affect gene expression in the process of formation of secondary metabolites. The purpose of this research was to studied the influence of orchid types with sucrose concentration for growth and flavonoid content on in vitro. This research used Factorial Completely Random Design with two factor that the type of orchid and sucrose concentration, the treatment was repeated three times.The data obtained were analyzed in variance and tested to be comparatively honest (BNJ) at 5% level. The results showed that the Dendrobium D315 (V2) orchid gave the best results at an average plant height of 2.45 cm, the average number of shoots was 2.48 buds, the average number of roots was 4.65 roots, the average fresh weight gain of 8.65 grams, and the orchid species Dendrobium D305 (V4) gave a tendency to yield of 2.48 shoots, the average number of roots was 4.65 roots, the average fresh weight gain of 8.65 grams, and the type of orchid Dendrobium D305 (V4) better on total flavonoids of 81.1725 mg QE / g.
