- Education has a very important role in shaping the character of students. Character building is a national mental revolution program carried out to strengthen student character, one of which is through a class-based approach, namely the 2013 thematic learning process curriculum. The purpose of this study is to describe how the implementation and what the similarities and differences in character education in class IV thematic learning in SD Al- Irsyad, SD Muhammadiyah Creative and SDIT Permata Kraksaan Probolinggo. This research uses the approach and type of research Mixed Concurrent Embedded design method and the type of research is descriptive. Sources of research data obtained from observations of learning activities, interviews with principals and classroom teachers. Data collection techniques by observation, interviews and documentation to obtain data about the implementation of character education in the thematic learning class IV at SD Al- Irsyad, SD Muhammadiyah Creative and SDIT Permata Kraksaan Probolinggo. The results showed that (1) the application of character education in thematic learning in SD Al- Irsyad, SD Muhammadiyah Creative and SDIT Permata Kraksaan Probolinggo was determined through the stages of learning planning, learning implementation, and evaluation of learning. Character values that are embedded are religious values, nationalist, independent, mutual cooperation, and integrity (2) Equation of the implementation of character education in the thematic learning of the three elementary schools, namely at the planning stage of approaches and methods used by teachers alike, at the implementation stage together has instilled 5 main values of characters, at the evaluation stage of the three elementary schools equally assessing the character of students in the learning process through 3 aspects, namely the assessment of attitudes, knowledge and performance (3) Differences in the implementation of character education in the thematic learning of the three elementary schools namely at the planning stage SD Al-Irsyad and SDIT Permata have not included the main values of character education to be achieved in the RPP, whereas SD Muhammadiyah has included (responsibility, independent and discipline), learning resources used by SD Al-Irsyad and Muhammadiyah are Thematic books Integrated Airlangga publishers, while SDIT uses the Thematic book JSIT publisher of Mulia Library. And at the planning stage, the difference is the time for implementing the learning supervision, and the student's daily monitoring book.
