- Electrical Eenergy in Indonesia continued to increase. While the biggest source of electricity was from coal. And according to the ministry of energy and mineral resources (ESDM) expected to be exhausted in 146 coming years from 2005. So there is a need for renewable electricity sources. Water is the main source of life. Water is a renewable energy source and alternative sources of energy. Indonesia had hydropower (PLTA) potential 75.670 MW, This potential has been utilized around 6.7%, which is 5,124 MW. Malang is one of region that had enough water for Micro Hydro Power (PLTMH). According to Boon Pring’s geographical data, Sanankerto had water discharge of 0,5 m3/s and head 3,5m. The use of turbines in accordance with the water discharge was vertical shaft propeller type. With a specific speed of 250 rpm, Then the effective rotation of the turbine was 904 rpm. In this design produced 13,734 Kw turbine power with ∅ outer blade 0.338 m, ∅ neck blade 0.135 m, had 5 blades and the thick blade was 0.005 m. The turbine shaft used S 45 C material with τ = 58 N / mm2, ∅ shaft 50 mm. Used the snail housing as a turbine housing to regulated the flow of water becomes a vortex flow with ∅ intake 0.379 m and ∅ final gate 0.204 m. There are 10 blades guide vane to directed the flow of water to the turbine and had ∅ outlet guide vane = 0.492 m, ∅ inlet guide vane 0.587 m. Used a generator with 1500 rpm rotation, from 904 rpm turbine rotation. So it had a pulley ratio of 5: 3
