  • Leachate, a liquid waste, is produced by waste which contains several hazardous chemicals ions like Pb, that can pollute the environment. Phytoremediation is One of technique that can be used to reduce Pb, such as by using Salviniaceae. This study aimed to determine the absorption of Pb by water fern. The method was using experimental research, with independent variable was the type of water fern (Salvinia natans, Azolla pinnata, and Azolla microphylla) and dependent variable was Pb absorption. This random sampling technique research was using one-way ANOVA. The results showed that no difference in the type of water fern in Pb absorption of leachate water. However, based on the absorption average, the water fern which have the highest absorption was Azolla pinnata, after that Salvinia natans, and followed by Azolla microphylla. The future research on heavy metal using more variations of water fern from different genera and family to more variations of Pb absorption is necessary.
