- Generally social capital is a bunch of belief, norms, or networks that being a factor of social relations between people involved. On this research, writer doing a research on Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) that work on Batik Tulis Putri Randu Pangger on Probolinggo city on purpose for knowing and descripting about how optimize sosial capital in it. For knowing the case, this research using social capital theory by Robert. D Putnam that contains social capital concept including trusts, norms, and network. This is a qualitative descriptive study aimed at describing the description of social capital optimization in the sustainability of SME's. The data from this study are primary data from the subject and the informants involved in the scope of the research location. The data in the form of secondary data obtained from the Sukoharjo Urban Village office. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques carried out by in-depth interview techniques, observation and documentation. Social capital contained in SME inability include the sustainability of capital, human resources, production, and marketing. The expression of social capital is characterized by activities / behaviors that support an interaction where the activity is colored by the existence of trust, norms, networks, and the existence of reciprocity that is built by the SME owners.
