  • Corrosion is an electrochemical process that occurs in materials due to reacting with the environment. Corrosion can also be interpreted as decreasing the quality of a material due to contact with the environment. This study aims to determine the rate of corrosion in AISI 1045 steel after the hardening time variation 960 to 1440 seconds by using freshwater cooling as quenching and corrosive media. The results of this study indicate that the highest corrosion rate values are found in hardening time specimens with 960 seconds with a value of 0.0541 mmpy, and the lowest results are found on hardening time specimens with 1440 seconds with a value of 0.0447 mmpy.
