- Composite is a material that is formed from a combination of two or more forming materials through a mixture that is not homogeneous, where the mechanical properties of each forming material are different. Composite with aluminum metal matrix is one of the many composite materials developed in the industry. In making aluminum matrix composites, silicon carbide (SiC) is a type of discontinuous reinforcement for metal metric composites which is the most commonly used, therefore in this study using Al-SiC with powder metallurgy process. Data confirmed that the highest hardness was obtained at 80 kN compacting pressure with a sintering time of 60 minutes, which is 94.16 HR15T.While the smallest hardness value is obtained at a pressure of 40 kN with a sintering time of 30 minutes, which is 85.46 HR15T.
