  • This study aims to determine the effect of the type of electrode on the corrosion rate in ST 41 steel. The welding used is the SMAW method with a variation of the electrodes E6013 and E7016 then immersion with media corrosion river water and seawater with 60 days. From the test results in all corrosion media the highest corrosion rate occurred at the E6013 electrode while the E7016 electrode was lower at the corrosion rate. The high corrosion rate that occurs at E6013 is caused by the percentage of iron powder content and chemical content that is different in each type of electrode used. The effective electrode used in SMAW welding on ST 41 steel is the E7016 electrode.
