  • Corrosion is a problem that often arises in a variety of metal-based equipment such as carbon steel. Carbon steel based on its content consists of three types, namely low, medium and high carbon steel. ST 37 steel is a low carbon steel which has a carbon content of less than 0.3%. Low carbon steel is usually very susceptible to corrosion. One of the factors that influence corrosion in the water environment is the presence of electrolytes. The choice of an inhibitor is based on its ability to inhibit corrosion with high efficiency. Natural ingredients that can be used as organic inhibitors must contain elements N, O, P, S which are found in many antioxidants and plants. One of the plants that has a high antioxidant content is dragon fruit. The antioxidant activity of red dragon fruit peels is greater than the activity of the flesh of the fruit. Tests with variations in the percentage of different solutions in H2SO4 corrosion media, with variations of each inhibitor 15%, 30%, and 45% as well as soaking time 7, 14, and 21 days. Giving the concentration of the solution of red dragon fruit skin inhibitors more and more so it can be more efficient to inhibit the rate of corrosion, the system added 45% inhibitor with immersion time for 7 days obtained an inhibitor efficiency value of 79.46%. So based on the results of this study it can be said that the solution is the most efficient in inhibiting the rate of corrosion.
