Daftar Isi:
- The control and attack of ISIS in August 2014 in Sinjar brutally shocked the international community. This research focuses on looking at ISIS's geopolitical interests in its control of the Sinjar region. The Sinjar region is considered by ISIS because it has some potential and privileges. This research is an explanative research with qualitative technical analysis. In this study, the author uses John Agnew's concept about territory which contains three components, namely Location, Locale, and Sense of Place and also uses Critical Geopolitics concepts to frame this paper. In connection with this concept, the authors view ISIS as a terrorist group emerging as actors from Critical Geopolitics. Then the authors look at mastery of ISIS over the area of Sinjar based on Location because of the geographical location of Sinjar and also its natural resources. Then Locale, because of the Zoroastrian community in Sinjar and also the Sense of Place, where ISIS saw the Sinjar region as part of past Islamic history.
