  • Background : Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is one of degenerative disease, that has high amount of member and tend to increase from year to year. Uncontrolled blood sugar levels are one of the factors that cause depression for those patients. Depression worse the complications of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Family function is needed as a non-pharmacological therapy for those patients. SCREEM Family questionnaire assesses the interaction between family members. Objectivities : To determine the correlation betweem family function and the insident depression of depression on type 2 diabetes mellitus in Junrejo Public Health Service Working Area, Batu City. Methods : The research is an analytic observational with cross-sectional approach. The sample of 95 respondents was taken by purposive sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire (BDI II for depression and SCREEM Family for family function) and was analyzed by the Kendall tau_b test. Results : Statistical analysis showed significant correlation between family function and the insident of depression, with correlation strength 0.598 (strong enough) with sig <0.005 (0,000). Conclusion : There was correlation between family function and the insident of depression on type 2 diabetes mellitus in Junrejo Public Health Service Working Area, Batu City.
