  • This phenomenon is motivated by the large number of Madurese who migrated to Kroman. This stance of the Madurese has become a personality trait of the Madurese which exists and even farther inherent within the people, highly influenced by the environment and culture surrounds them. Different cultural phenomena necessitate the Madurese to be able to adapt to Kroman surroundings in order to be accepted by the majority community. This study uses a qualitative approach along with data collection techniques through interviews and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using Herbert Blumer's communication ethnography and symbolic interactions. That human interaction is mediated by the use of symbols, by interpretation, and by the certainty of the meaning of the actions of others, not just reacting to each other as what a stimulus-response model pointed out. The findings of this study are the process of cross-cultural communication between Madurese citizens and the Kroman community is an adaptation in which they change habits and behavior even in ways of speaking to gain acceptance of their environment. They are very concerned about what they are allowed to do and to do not, understand and follow the norms and culture in Kroman to avoid existing conflicts.
