- Mangrove forest ecosystems are forests that grow on mud, alluvial soils in coastal areas and river estuaries are affected by tides. The existence of mangroves in coastal and marine areas plays an important role both physically ecologically and economically. But with human growth and greed making the existence of mangrove ecosystems dwindling. The damage that occurs has a bad impact, especially for the mangrove forest ecosystem itself. Therefore, preservation activities need to be carried out, one of which is the multiplication of plants through nursery activities. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of Giberellic Acid (GA3) concentration and sunshine duration on seed germination and growth seedlings of bakau (Rhizophora mucronata Lamk.). This research was conducted from June to October 2017 at Permata beach Probolinggo. This study uses a Randomized Block Design (RBD) of two factors that are arranged factorially. The first factor is the concentration of GA3 20 ppm, 30 ppm, 40 ppm and 50 ppm. The second factor is the sunshine duration 3 hours, 6 hours, 9 hours and 12 hours. The data obtained will be analyzed using analysis of variance and continued using Duncan α 5% test. The results showed that there was an interaction between GA 3 concentration and sunshine duration on germination power, germination rate, seedling height, number of seedling leaves, seedling wet weight and seedling dry weight. The best treatment combination is K1L1, where the concentration of GA 3 is 20 ppm and sunshine duration is 3 hours.
