- The Dunia Terbalik is a sinetron nuance of comedy that lifts the story of husbands who are left to work by their wives to become women migrant workers abroad with the main players named Akum, Idoy, Aceng and Dadang, this soap opera tells the life of the community in Ciraos Village where husbands must educate children and doing homework that is usually done by women, such as washing, shopping, cooking and bringing children to school. From the background, the formulation of the problem can be drawn, namely how the meaning of the head of the family about the exchange of gender roles in the sinetron Dunia Terbalik. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive type. Data collection techniques using interviews and documentation. Analysis techniques using Miles and Huberman are data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of research that has been done found 3 positions, namely The Dominant Hegemonic head of the family agrees or in line with what is delivered by the Dunia Terbalik, Then Negotiated Reading, the head of the family accepts what is delivered by the Dunia Terbalik by making an understanding or interpretation according to their own, while Oppositional position of the head of the family does not agree with what is delivered by the Dunia Terbalik. then it can be concluded that the head of RT.08 RW.01 Pucanganom Village, Kebonsari District, Madiun Regency gave different meanings. In the dominant position, the subject interprets the exchange of gender roles as behaviors that are already common and can be accepted in society, it is characterized by support, characters and storylines in the sinetron of the Dunia Terbalik. In the negotiation position the subject accepts the exchange of gender roles with interpretation according to the subject itself. While the subject's opposition position has not been able to accept gender role exchanges because the subject has the notion that the husband who should be the person in charge in the family, which is marked by the attitude of refusing male characters to do women's duties and female characters who do men's duties as in the sinetron Dunia Terbalik.
