- The movie evolves from the combination between message dissemination and moving picture that made through the utilization of camera, lighting, color and voice technologies. Show package of the movie becomes variable recently. People usually recognize the motive as a specific device for giving them a sense of entertainment and recreation due to its relatively affordability. The movie itself plays role as communicator while the story content disseminated to the audience remains as a message given by communicator to the audience. Message from a move often tells about social reality though our daily life doesn’t seem reflecting the occurrence in the movie. Manipulative characteristic of the movie, therefore, persuades people to think in such way of the message given in the movie. It has been really adverse impact on the public. Animation Movie “Conan Detective” in subtitle of The Phantom of Baker Street represents an import animation movie with many interested audiences. Whole message content of animation movie Conan Detective shall be estimated to change, to modify or to form the character of the audiences. Regarding to this background, problem determination relates to “How does theme inclination develop in animation movie Detective Conan written by Gosho Aoyama, subtitle of The Phantom of Baker Street. Research considers a theory of message’s content and form because the movie provides a message given through its story plot to the audiences with certain effect. Method used in this research concerns with content analysis. Quantitative descriptive approach aims at objectively, systematically, and quantitatively, describing the manifested communication content. A researcher may make an inference and identify it objectively and systematically. Research utilizes categorical structure referred to the category used by Flornoy and the author modifies it related to the demand of research. Measurement unit used will be the frequency of categorical appearance in every scene onanimation movie Detective Conan written by Gosho Aoyama, subtitle of The Phantom of Baker Street. Data analysis technique has been frequency table to count the average (means). Toensure research’s validity and reliability, the author needs validity and reliability tests. In the categorical reliability test, the author uses coding system, where the coder assists the author to measure the precision of author’s judgment on theme inclination in animation movie Detective Conan written by Gosho Aoyama, subtitle of The Phantom of Baker Street. To measure it requires the author to use Holsty formula included within Scott formula. Results of research indicate that the inclination percentage appears at 73 scenes at each category. Friendship theme category has the highest appearance frequency, about 38 times (50.05 %). Intelligence theme category appears about 10 times (13.69 %). Social theme category emerges 9 times (12.32 %). Violence theme turns up for 6 times (8.21 %). Theme of culture and technology shows up with frequency of 5 times (6.84 %). It may be concluded that theme inclination appeared at animation movie Detective Conan written by Gosho Aoyama, subtitle of The Phantom of Baker Street submits to friendship theme.
