- Cigaru Lake is one of the new tourist attractions inaugurated by the Tangerang Regent as one of the tourist destinations in the Tangerang Regency area in 2018. According to data obtained in 2016-2017 the number of tourists who come every week reaches 10,000 people. However, there are no advertisements found publicly published by any travel management both online and offline regarding the lake to attract tourists. Based on things mentioned above, the research question is how the word of mouth communication process work in the diffusion of Lake Cigaru tourist attraction information. In this research, researcher used the theory of information diffusion which was first coined by Everett Rogers where this theory defines diffusion as a process of information that is communicated through certain channels within a certain period of time among members of the social system. Therefore, the focus of the researcher is in terms of the parties who diffuse the information, the messages in the form of information being diffused, the channels and the adoption of information in the process of information diffusion. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data obtained through interviews, observation and documentation. And supported with secondary data in the form of documents, photos or data archives relating to Lake Cigaru attractions. The data collection process was done by interviewing 14 tourists who came to the Cigaru lake attraction as research subjects. The result of the study shows that the process of word of mouth communication in the diffusion of information about Lake Cigaru tourism objects involves tourists themselves as recipients and disseminators of informations. In general, the messages obtained and informed by tourists in the form of a description of the beauty and location of this tour. The form of channels in the diffusion of information includes interpersonal channels, that is with the presence of direct word of mouth communication and mass media channels that occur through electronic word of mouth using social media such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The main factor influencing the decision of tourists to visit Lake Cigaru attractions is because the curiosity of Lake Cigaru itself which are built up during the communication process.
