  • Professional commitment is very important for the realization of lecturer performance, factors suspected to affect professional commitment is competence. Purpose of this study to test the effect of the competence to the professional commitment of lecturers. Research conducted at 160 study subjects who works as a lecturer in a college. Data collection instrument using a scale of competence and professional commitment scale that have the three dimensions of affective commitment, ccontinuants commitment and normative commitment. Results obtained from simple regression analysis technique is that (1) there is a significant influence competence of the professional commitment affective lecturer, the contribution of competence on the commitment of affection by 32.6% (2) there is the influence of competence of the professional commitment continuants lecturer, contributing competence on commitment normative by 3.3% (3) there is significant normative competence of the professional commitment to the lecturer, the contribution of competence in normative commitment amounted to 25.6%
