  • Background :Cigarette smoke contains free radicals and ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species ) that can cause oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation which produced MDA (Malondialdehyde). Sambiloto leaf extract contains flavonoid and Andrographolide that can inhibit oxidative stress and ROS to reduce MDA levels. Objective : Demonstrate the effect of Sambiloto leaf extractas antiaoxidant canreduce blood plasma MDALevel in whiterats (Rattusnorvegicus strain wistar) were exposed to cigarettesmoke in subacute. Methods : Experimental Research, Post Test Only Control Design. Result and Discussion :From One way Anova test results, obtained significant difference (sig. = 0,000 (p<0,05)). Pearson correlation test results (sig. =0.000 (p<0,05)) to the direction of the negative correlation means that there was a highly significant relationship between increased doses of sambiloto leaf extract with decreased levels of plasma MDA. The result of Regresi test was significant (R2 = 0.66; Sig = 0.000 < 0.05) means sambiloto leaf extract has contributed by 66 % to decreased levels of plasma MDA. Conclusion:Sambiloto leaf extract could reduce levels of blood plasma MDA white rats exposed to cigarette smoke in subacute. .
