- The development of technology is very fast, especially internet network technology. As we know in network development or network topology development is still conventional, in the sense that there is still access every physical of device / hardware for network configuration. This is very inefficient and inflexible i f there are many devices in the network. So Software Defined Network (SDN) emerged because of these problems and hope can solve the complexity of network topology, so it can be more efficient and flexible. The idea of SDN technology is to separate the control plane and data plane functions. This makes the device on the network (eg switch, router) to forward data according to the command of the controller in accordance with the protocol that is configured. OSPF is one protocol that has the ability to detect changes in the network quickly. In this research, the implementation using OSPF protocol on SDN network using RouteFlow Controller, then analyzing its performance based on the measurement of QoS (jitter, delay, throughput, packet loss) with the background of varied traffic. Based on the results of research that has been done, SDN network is not completely better than conventional network. SDN networks are better in terms of throughput and jitter, while conventional networks are better than delay side, and packet loss from both network models is 0%.
