  • This study aims to determine the reflective thinking process of students in solving mathematical problems of type HOTS in terms of Adversity Quotient, namely students with the type of climber, camper, and quitter. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive case study method. The subjects of this study were two climber type students, two camper type students, and two quitter type students. Classification of type AQ uses a questionnaire given to 57 students of class X MIPA 1 and X MIPA 4 at SMA Ar Rohmah Putri Boarding School Malang. Data collection is done by giving test questions and interviews. Data collection techniques carried out by: a) reducing data; b) presents data, and c) draw conclusions. The research procedures carried out in the study there are three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and completion. Activities at the preparatory stage include: 1) preparing a proposal; 2) request for a research permit; 3) compile research instruments in the form of AQ questions and questionnaires, and 4) instrument validation. Activities at the implementation stage include: 1) giving test questions to students; 2) giving an AQ questionnaire, and 3) conducting an interview, which aims to reinforce the answers and data collected by students really the results of individual abilities themselves. The results of this study indicate that the climber type students fulfill all indicators of reflective thinking in solving HOTS thinking processes reflective camper type students only meet the indicators linking the knowledge they have with the problem being faced but are unable to select their knowledge to determine the problem solving strategy. Camper type students cannot explain problem solving and are not aware of mistakes when solving problems. The reflective thinking process of quitter type students does not fulfill all the indicators of reflective thinking in solving HOTS problems.
