  • This research was study of the analysis of mathematical communication skills and students' critical thinking skills in the contextual learning framework. This research was carried out based on the problems found in the eighth grade students of SMP PGRI 1 Lawang, namely teachers still using conventional learning models, students had difficulty communicating their mathematical ideas in writing in solving problem descriptions and the lack of critical thinking of students. The purpose of this study was to determine (1) Students 'mathematical communication skills in learning mathematics using the Contextual Learning Model, (2) Students' critical thinking skills in learning mathematics using the Contextual learning Model.This type of research is descriptive study with a qualitative approach. This research was conducted on October 16, 2019 in SMP PGRI 1 Lawang in class VIII, which consisted of 17 students. Data obtained through test description. The results show that the implementation of contextual learning models in mathematics learning has been carried out well in accordance with the planned syntax. Mathematical communication skills in the contextual learning model for each indicator get an average score of 74 in the good category. Based on the results of research conducted also shows the ability of students to think critically on the contextual learning model has an overall average of 74 which is in the good category.
