- Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a vegetable commodity from the Solanacea family which is widely cultivated in Indonesia. At present, more eggplant cultivation is done using hybrid varieties rather than local varieties. The use of hybrid varieties is more beneficial but can reduce genetic diversity. Genetic diversity has an important meaning in plant breeding programs because it affects the success in plant breeding programs that are carried out. In order to develop new varieties of eggplant that are more adaptive to climate change and the environment, activities are needed to obtain information on each character of eggplant varieties that are used as planting material in this study through characterization activities. The varieties observed in this study were TAtF1, TBgF1, TKnF1, TPls, TBmb, THjF1, THjtF1, TMlF1, Tarh, and TJty. This study uses a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 3 replications. The results of observations on the qualitative character of purple anthocyanin staining, intensity of purple anthocyanin staining, purple anthocyanin staining on flower stalks, intensity of purple anthocyanin staining on flower stalks, purple anthocyanin staining on flower petals, purple anthocyanin staining on flower stalks, plant growth intensity of purple anthocyanin staining, flower anthocyanin staining on flower petals, intensity of purple anthocyanin staining on flower petals, plant growth intensity , the intensity of the purple color of the flower crown, the presence of thorns on the flower petals, the curve of the leaf blade, the shape of the leaf tips, the maximum length / diameter ratio of the fruit, the general shape of the fruit, the fruit arch, the shape of the fruit tip, the main color of the ripe fruit skin harvest, the gloss of the fruit, fruit lines, wrinkles on fruit pods and the color of fruit flesh show diversity. Quantitative characters also showed diversity in plant height, number of leaves, age of flowering, number of flower buds of 51 HST, fruit weight per bed at 91 HST harvest, number of fruits per plant up to age 151 HST and age of harvest I.
