- In the last two decade, the military build-up of People’s Republic of China has been increasing significantly. Consequently, it created a source of threat toward China’s neighbour countries, especially Japan. This descriptive research aimed to figure out how Japan’s defense policy worked to respons China military build-up. To answer that question, the writer applied Stephen M. Walt’s balance of threat approach. This research argued that to response China military build-up, the Japanese Government under the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe committed a balancing by rebuild its military capability.
