  • The lagging ability of students' mathematical literacy and creative thinking ability prove that the lack of student awareness of mathematical literacy and the difficulty of students thinking creatively. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the problem based learning model and the problem solving strategy of mathematical literacy on the mathematical literacy and creative thinking abilities of junior high school students. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. Population and sample were students of class VII-A and VII-B of Ma'arif Batu as the experimental class and the control class. Data collection methods in the form of observation and tests. Observation sheets are used to determine the activities of teachers and students in learning. Giving tests in the form of pretest and posttest is used to measure students' mathematical literacy abilities and creative thinking abilities. Test analysis using the Independent Sample t test. The results showed that 1) the influence of PBL learning models and problem-solving strategies for junior high school students' mathematical literacy skills with a significance value of problem solving ability of 0.026; the significance value of mathematical communication skills is 0.011; the significance value of reasoning ability was obtained for 0.007 and 2) there was an influence of PBL learning models and problem solving strategies for junior high school students' creative thinking abilities with a significant value of 0.033.
