- The ability to think critically is one of the abilities students must have to analyze and evaluate various problems in daily life. One way to look at students' critical thinking skills is to provide a problem so students are able to solve their problems. he ability to think critically must be accompanied by aspects of psychology to be able to solve these problems properly. One aspect of this psychology is self confidence. Self confidence is one that is needed because students can have good mathematics, learn mathematics by never giving up and showing confidence in their mathematical abilities. This study aims to describe the ability to think critically in solving mathematical problems reviewed of students self confidence. The data analysis of this research was conducted in a descriptive qualitative manner through research instruments in the form of self confidence questionnaires, tests of critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems, and interview sheets. This research was carried out in SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Pandaan with subjects which were all grade IX-A students. The results of the study indicate that students who have high self confidence are able to complete the indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. Students who have self confidence are able to complete the indicators of analysis, evaluation, and inference. Students who have low self confidence are able to complete the analysis indicators.
