Daftar Isi:
- The purpose of this study was to determine students' mathematical communication skills in learning material to build flat side spaces both in oral and written communication. The subjects of this study were eighth grade junior high school students. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The research instrument used was the observation sheet and the scoring guidelines. Data analysis was performed by collecting data obtained from observation sheets and student test results, determining the percentage of scores and making decisions related to students' verbal and written communication skills. The results of this study there are 2 aspects, namely verbal mathematical communication skills and written communication skills. There are 3 indicators of verbal communication skills, namely the use of verbal language in mathematics with a percentage of 77%, mathematical representation in oral form with a percentage of 73% and the clarity of presentation with a percentage of 77%. The average of the three indicators of oral communication is 75.67% with a good category. Mathematical communication skills in writing there are 4 indicators used by researchers, namely communicating ideas from the form of images into writing with a percentage of 79%, the ability to write solutions to problems systematically with a percentage of 67%, stating concepts in the problem with a percentage of 73%, and using mathematical language and mathematical symbols with a percentage of 73%. The average of the four indicators of written communication is 73% with a good category. This shows the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students are both verbally and in writing.
