  • This study aims to describe the level of students self-efficacy towards students abilities in solving mathematical problems in rectangular and triangular. This research method is the mix method with an explanatory sequential method design. Subjects taken by all students of class VII-E in SMP Muhammadiyah 08 Batu, subjects taken for interviews 6 students based on the results of tests of abilities solving mathematical problems. There are three research instruments namely, written test sheets, self-efficacy questionnaire sheets, and interview guidelines. Based on the results of data analysis, the results show that students who have the ability to solve high mathematical problems have high self-efficacy that is always optimistic in solving mathematical problems. Students who have the ability to solve mathematical problems are having moderate self-efficacy, ie students are optimistic when students feel able to solve mathematical problems. Students who have low mathematical problem solving skills have low self-efficacy, that is, they are not optimistic in solving mathematical problems, are unsure of their ability to solve mathematical problems.
