- In the construction of the water environment, steel resistance was needed to support industrial process, but over the time the steel used was corrode, especially in the water environment. This study used weight loss method to get the value of the corrosion rate which then analyzed the value of the corrosion rate used 5% NaCl solution and 5% HCl solution. In this research to get the difference effect of time on the corrosion rate, the immersion time variation was added for 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 days. HCl solution had higher corrosion rate compared to NaCl solution in the steel that had been painted. HCl solution also had the highest average of corrosion rate on the 6th day as 1078.405 mm/y, meanwhile the lowest corrosion rate on the was on the 30th day as 323.95 mm/y. Furthermore, NaCl had the highest average of corrosion rate on the 30th day as 13.701 mm/y and the lowest of corrosion rate was on the 6th day as 5.016 mm/y.
