- Welding is a method which widely used. One of it is FSW. FSW is frequently applicated to alumunium welding. Application of welding as a joining process may cause the changing of mechanical properties and corrossion resistance of these material. This research was conducted to determine the effect of 1,9mm/min, 3,2mm/min dan 5,8mm/min welding speed on impact properties and corrossion rate of A5083 in the NaCl corrosive media. From these experiments the lowest impact strength was found in the variation of welding 3,2mm/min with the result 0,021J/mm2and the highest at the speed 5,8mm/min with the result 0,034J/mm2. In the other hand, corrosion rate testing showed the lowest corrosion rate at welding speed 5,8mm/min in concentration of 2,5% NaCl was 0,00001684mm/year and the highest corrosion rate was at the welding speed 1,9mm/year. This experiment showed that each variation of welding speed had a different impact value due to several factors and NaCl concentration had affected on the corrosion rate. The lower welding speed and the higer concentration of NaCl, the higher the corrosion rate.
