  • Background: Wearing high heels and prolonged standing can cause the adaptation of body posture and develop some health issues, one of them is foot deformity such as hallux valgus (HV). Objective: To determine the relation between height of shoe heel and duration of standing towards HV on female salesperson of Matahari Department Store Malang Town Square. Methods: An analytical observational research using cross sectional design. The sampling technique were using purposive sampling, and 82 samples were included. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test, Logistic Regression test, and Fisher’s Exact test. Results: The result of Mann-Whitney U test showed that p=0,000 (p<0,05) so there was a significant relation between height of shoe heel and HV. Logistic regression test result showed that subjects wearing shoe heel of 5cm had a lower risk of HV compared to those with shoe heel of 7cm (OR=0,046). Meanwhile, the result of Fisher’s Exact test showed there was no significant relation between duration of standing and HV (p>0,05). Conclusions: Height of shoe heel is related to the development of HV, but duration of standing is not statistically related.
