- The family can generally be understood by the existence of a married couple who live together under one roof. It is normal for a family to live together with a large family and their children in the same neighborhood. But along with the rapid development of the current era in the modern era that is causing urbanization to flourish, there are already quite a lot of families who choose to live separately in terms of long distance relationships or what is commonly referred to as long distance marriege. The study in this study will examine the Long Distance Marriege Family Phenomenon in Swarga Bara Village, North Sangatta District, East Kutai Regency. Where the type of research in this study uses the type of phenomenological research with a qualitative approach. The use of purposive technique was chosen by researchers in conducting subject determination techniques. This study applies data collection methods through a series of observations, in-depth interviews, and accompanied by documentation to support the research results. The theory used in the study of this study uses the theory of Phenomenology by Alferd Schutz which will reveal the motives, actions, and meanings resulting from the long distance marriege relationship. From the results of the research conducted can be concluded that is as follows: First, the motives or reasons behind the family experiencing long distance marriege include economic factors, job offers outside the area, transfer of work placement, and business affairs. Second, the interactions carried out by each family who are undergoing long distance marriege relationships are more engaged in communication activities through instant messanging as a means of exchanging news and conveying messages as well as whatsapp. Third, the problems that arise in the long distance marriege family come from a variety of factors including personal, physical, interpersonal, and environmental sources. Fourth, the strategies carried out by each family in overcoming conflicts include communication must be intensive, discussing problems at the right timing, trusting, building commitment, being open to each other, the main functions of the family are fulfilled.
