- Human needs to consume agricultural products is one indication, the importance of developing, preserving and maintaining the agricultural sector, but in recent years, the agricultural sector has experienced quite serious problems, related to the reduced interest of youth in working in the agricultural sector. The purpose of this study was to determine the reasons young farmers work in the agricultural sector and the effect of economic, social and environmental conditions of young farmers on work behavior in the agricultural sector in Sembalun Lawang Village. This research was conducted in Sembalun Lawang Village, Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency. The number of subjects of this study was 85 young farmers, using technical data analysis namely descriptive qualitative and quantitative. While the data collection techniques were carried out by means of interviews, documentation, questionnaires, observations, and literature studies. The results of this study indicate that the reasons young farmers work in the agricultural sector are grouped into several categories, namely economic factors, limited job opportunities, enjoyed sectors, environmental factors, noble employment, expertise factors, parent factors, personal factors, unrestricted employment work time and superiors, educational factors, hereditary work, and way of life. The economic, social and environmental conditions of young farmers in Sembalun Lawang Village, affect their behavior in working in the agricultural sector.
