  • This thesis describes Indonesia’s Rationality to Approve The Hazardous Waste Trading Clause in Indonesia Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA) in the period 2008-2015. This thesis aims to analyze Indonesia's rationality in agreeing to the Hazardous waste trading clause listed in the IJEPA cooperation agreement, and is expected to be useful information. This thesis uses a qualitative method done through the literature study and using documents that can support this thesis. In the process of research, the information that has been obtained is then associated with Rational Choice Theory as well as the concept of trade liberalization. The result of the research process is known that bilateral economic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan or IJEPA has been started since June 2008, the cooperation is enabled to further increase the economic benefits of both countries in Export and import. But in article 29 section (2) clause (J), IJEPA agreement to insert waste classified as Hazardous waste as goods that can be traded while Indonesia itself has ratified the Basel convention which is the Convention that govern and then Hazardous Waste control . The results of the study showed that Indonesia's rationality in agreeing to the trade clause of Hazardous waste is a calculation of profit and loss done before agreeing to the cooperation of IJEPA. The economic advantages gained from the implementation of the IJEPA agreement are assessed as greater than the losses gained by Indonesia so that this decision is a rational action.
