  • This thesis is a study regarding the role of social workers working in social rehabilitation of drug abuse victims in the Islamic Boarding School Bahrul Magfiroh applying the practice of Islamic counseling. The purpose of this research is aimed to know; 1) the role of social workers in the social rehabilitation of victims of drug abuse in the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic boarding school applying Islamic counseling practices. 2) inhibiting factors or obstacles to the role of social workers in the rehabilitation of drug abuse victims in Bahrul Magfiroh Islamic boarding school that applies Islamic counseling practices. This type of research uses qualitative research with a case study approach, which are social workers as the main subject, Victims of Drug Abuse (clients), head of institution, and administrators. Data collection techniques used are observations, interviews, and documentations. Whereas, the analysis technique uses three stages including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion or verification. The results of this research indicates that the role of social workers in the rehabilitation of victims of drug abuse in the Bahrul Magfiroh Islamic boarding school applaying Islamic counseling practices has four roles including 1) the role of experts 2) the role of the liaison 3) the role of the facilitator 4) the role as a motivator. The obstacles faced by social workers in this institution are lack of space for social workers, unstable or uncertain client behavior, lack of administrators’ knowledge regarding social workers and their roles, unovert client’s attitudes, the role of clerics more influential than social workers,the poor relationship between family and clients. These obstacles faced by social workers cause the role of social workers to be less optimal in dealing with clients of drug abuse victims in the process of social rehabilitation according to their scientific fields.
