- The purpose of this research was to determine the porosity, density and microstructure of aluminum matrix composites with titanium reinforcement made by using the powder metallurgy method with variations of sintering temperature. To meet the needs of modern technology for materials that have good properties and increase the efficiency of the structure and the characteristics of significant material properties, for example for light but strong material applications. In this study, the composite was made through a powder metallurgy process with a composition of 90% aluminum and 10% titanium. The powder mixture is compacted with a pressure of 286.6 MPa, after that the compacted product is sintered at temperatures of 400, 450, 500, and 550 °C for 90 minutes. Tests carried out include testing density, porosity and metallography. The results of density and porosity testing show the higher the sintering temperature, the higher the density, the porosity will be lower. Microstructure photographs show the higher the temperature, the smaller the porosity.
