- Macroinvertebrates are aquatic organisms that serve as bioindicators of water quality and their presence is very important in the food chain, but many riparian habitats that have changed functions by humans have resulted in a loss of food sources and reduced the number of aquatic macroinvertebrates. The purpose of this studied was to analyze the relationship between riparian vegetation quality and macroinvertebrate diversity. Three days of research included data collection and identification of macroinvertebrates. The type of research used a quantitative descriptive. This research method was observation and data collection at the location identified and calculated a biological index. This study consisted of three stations with three replications each on the right and left sides. The results were assessed based on the diversity index of macroinvertebrates and riparian quality values. Data analysis techniques using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed a correlation between riparian vegetation quality and macroinvertebrate diversity. The highest macroinvertebrate diversity at station one, where there was no human activity in riparian land use so that it has a good value of riparian vegetation quality, while the station that has the lowest macroinvertebrate diversity at station two, there are activities in the form of human settlements resulting in the loss of riparian areas so that riparian quality values categorized very badly. Based on theory, the result of this research can be used as a source of studying the biological.
